Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the process of systematically applying interventions based upon the principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviors to a meaningful degree (Baer, Wolf & Risley, 1987; Sulzer-Azaroff & Mayer, 1991). ABA refers to a systematic approach to the assessment and evaluation of behavior, and the application of interventions that alter the behavior.
Behavior Modification is a behavior training program where expectations or goals are structured and directed. Behavior modification is used to change a knowledge set, skills, or attitude of an individual which occurs as the result of planned and scheduled reinforcement.
Both methodologies have been scientifically proven to improve the lives of children with autism and other developmental disabilities.
